On Friday night some friends and I went to see one of our favorite ska bands, Streetlight Manifesto. The show was incredible and my little brother Trevor was even able to tag along since he didn’t have school the following day. The place was packed; I mean totally packed. Trevor and I tried as best we could, but we couldn’t get all the way to the front; too much moshing and crowd surfing that it was almost futile to attempt to move about the crowd. You literally just had to let the crowd take you where it wanted to take you.
Streetlight was the second of three bands to go. It kind of sucks that they weren’t headlining. My friend Max and I have seen them three or four times before and they’ve headlined for all of those shows. Reel Big Fish headlined for the Friday show. They were quite good as well, except… the had the longest set list ever. Seriously. Streetlight had probably a 45 minutes. Reel Big Fish had about two and a half hours. I understand they’re the headliners, but it would’ve been nice if they proportioned the time a little big more evenly. I suppose that’s also me just being bias, because I like Streetlight Manifesto a lot more than the other two bands.
We actually weren’t even going to stay around for Reel Big Fish, but Max lost his car keys in the crowd at the end of second to last song of Streetlight. Thus, we had to stick around until the place cleared out to rummage through the filth on the floor. Luckily, someone had found them and had given them to the front desk.
A fun night all around.
