Earlier tonight my Mom called me into her room to show me something on TV; something that turned out to be incredible. She was watching a young boy on the news named Rex. Rex was born with a cyst in his skull that resulted in him acquiring symptoms of autism.

Despite the flaws he was born with, Rex has found his own art and true calling in playing the piano. Though he doesn’t understand many human emotions and feelings, his talent exceeds many of his fellow piano and band students. Did I mention he was also blind?

The interview focused on his piano playing and I found it amazing how well he was at improvisation. During the interview, his piano teacher asked him to play a popular song. After, he was asked to play the same song but was told to improvise the song in the classical style of Mozart. Needless to say, he did it flawlessly. The interview concludes with him improvising a duet with a young woman, which was equally amazing.

It simply shows that human defects shouldn’t control what we love to do.
