I just found a spot in my room that gives me three bars of service on my cell phone. Sweet. On a side note, this little flash game I found earlier today is also sweet.
A list of some things I’ve learned from my recent roadtrip down to Florida with Max Retter (in no sequential order).
* Rest stops in New Jersey are named after famous people.
* Clear weather hates both Max and I.
* Papa John’s chicken fingers are pretty damn good.
* You can never have too much barbecue sauce.
* Southern fast food joints greet you as you come in.
* Southern Taco Bells don’t have Cherry Coke.
* The two restaurants Waffle House and Huddle House are everywhere in the south.
* Sleeping in the car isn’t fun.
* Check the drinking laws where you are before drinking in public.
* Richmond, Virginia looks really shady.
* South Carolina sucks.
* People ask you to buy crack and ecstasy in Daytona Beach, Florida.
* The big marshmallow looking creature from Ghostbusters will probably kill you if he steps on you.
* Henry Hatsworth is a great Nintendo DS game.
* I need to start skateboarding more often.
* The new Decemberists album is the shit.
* The iPhone doesn’t fancy the word “sluts” and corrects it to “slits”.
* McDonalds in the south sell hot pretzels.
* Myrtle Beach, South Caronlina is not all it’s hyped to be.
* There is no such thing as warm weather trees until you are through Virginia.
* People from New Haven, CT roadtrip down to Florida too.
* Sea foam is awesome.
Max and I got totally wasted in Daytona Beach, Florida. All we did was skateboard and drink lots of beer in public. That is all.
So we are currently sitting in the parking lot of a Comfort Suites hotel in Savannah, Georgia (about the 24 hour mark of our trip). We are leeching off of their internet connection so that I can submit some homework and Max can post all of the vlogs we have taken so far.
After this I think we’re going to drive for a little bit longer and then find a rest stop to pass the fuck out at. Fortunately, this time, we won’t be waking up to five degree weather in the car (see vlog3 when Max posts the entire vlogs compilation). By mid-day tomorrow we shall have reached our destination of “somewhere in Florida where it’s warm.” We’re not entirely sure where, since we’re winging it as we go!
However, don’t fret. I’m sure we’ll take a retarded vlog about it.
My friend Shawn and I just finished watching the latest CollegeHumour shows. Fucking hilarious. I suppose they may be a bit more amusing when you’re drunk, but still!
On an apparent side note: I have insomnia and I don’t want to sleep.
So if you’ve been reading my friend Max’s blog, you should already know that on Wednesday of this week, both of us will be taking a road trip down south. We’re not entirely sure where exactly we’re going, but South Carolina and Florida seem to be the plausible destinations (just some place warm).
I kind of want to stop and visit my Aunt and Uncle in Roanoke, Virginia, but that’s probably a two hour detour in itself. Oh well, we’ll see. We plan on sleeping in the car, so we’ll probably smell like total crap upon our return on Sunday.
We’ll be sporadically taking video blogs (vlogs) during our ventures, so I’m sure upcoming posts on both of our blogs with be filled with dumbass videos… You have been warned.
Anyways, I’m really happy the bulk of my homework is done. This term was brutal for me. I only have a few more assignments to finish between my two courses, but they are simple enough that I’ll be able to complete them while we’re on the road. The only thing I have to remember now is to order my textbooks for next term…
My friends showed me this awhile back, but I just stumbled upon it again as I was browsing through YouTube. A great video. A great song. An amazing art direction.
This new skit just went into my favorites list of CollegHumour videos. It’s so ridiculous and retarded that it will make you laugh, or at least smile. I would try to explain it, but it’s really just better if you watched.
Stephen Colbert just made fun of Sci-Fi’s new logo (SyFy). My friends and I were recently talking/making fun of the new logo at lunch; Stephen just made it even better!
I just finished both the introduction and first body paragraph to my upcoming research paper (due next Sunday). I know more about William Wordsworth’s writing than my own writing. However, to give him credit, he is a fascinating writer. His work encompasses both environmentalism and philosophy. (However, Robert Frost is still my favorite though.)
Anyways, going to try and get a little bit more done before I hit the sack.
